Reflection Post, 4/30/19

This post marks an end to my blogging for my Com 210 class. Where I focused on different Adobe products and honed my skills, and created content following my radio show on the local college radio station.

I definitely got a lot out of the experience of learning two new Adobe software better and getting to flex my skills on others. I had already practiced with photoshop a lot, and premiere a little bit before the class started, but these assignments showed me that my skills are at least up to snuff in those areas.

Illustrator actually became my favorite tool, although I still struggle to use it and wish it had/I knew how to do certain things on it. Going forward I would like to have access to either photoshop or illustrator because I want to be able to continue to practice and use those creative and technical skills.

I still struggle a lot with illustrator, because it lacks certain editing functions that I am used to from Photoshop, but I just have to learn to work without defined, separately editable, layers. As a tool though, it has been great for making logos and branding work, which I would like to be able to do more of going future.

My favorite thing about this class has just been the ability to tie in my radio show as my topic, and all the feedback about the message of the show sounding really cool. I think that it also gave all the assignments a more personal touch because I was more vested in the outcome since it ultimately would be used to promote the show.

I did end up using the logo I created for branding! Everything has been integrated mostly well. Going forward, I would like to update the blog with some more media that I create for the show, and try and use this platform to share about my creative process’ and experiences as well.

I’ve had a great time creating media for this class and this blog, and blogging about the things that I create has forced me to be more accepting of my mistakes and flaws in my work. I have had a photo blog in the past for another class, but this one particularly forced me to try and make my editing style as professional as I could.
